Hi everybody We have some exciting news for all our G2 users. The 2.1 firmware update (éclair) will be available from today and will be sent over the air (OTA) direct to your phone over the coming weeks. You'll need to save all your personal data before you start downloading. That's because the upgrade will delete all personal info including software applications from the device. Take care T-Mobile forum team |

Updating my software as you speak! Roll on 2.1! T-Mobile took their time though.

I've just gone through the update, apparently without any problems.
Once it finished it loaded the operating system fine, but every 15 seconds or so I get the annoying message "The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I have to press the "Force close" button every time if I want to do anything. I suspect this is keeping the CPU busy as well, so the batery drains faster. Any suggestion on this problem? Thanks, Bogdan EDIT: I have done a "Reset to factory defaults" and the problem has gone away. The only problem is that now I need to reinstall all my apps again, but at leat things seem to work as they should. Thanks for this looong-waited update!! |

The update process....
Once the install is downloaded it takes about 10 minutes before the reboot and the new HTC strapline comes up. The install yellow bar shows progress until it gets to about level with the lower corner of the phone. It starts again after a minute or so and moves to about level with the lower corner of the screen. There it waits for what seems like an eternity until it completes and re-boots after about 9 minutes. Multiple re-boots then take place and the last T-Mobile screen seems to stop for a long time until the home screen appears. The date and time don't seem to update even though there is a lot of refreshing going on to the network. Certainly seems a lot snappier. |

Can someone offer some explanation for those who did not get the "preparatory" update a month or so ago (the one Tmobile stopped rolling out). Folks eager to get 2.1 right away and who have that update can force a new update to get 2.1, as I understand it. For the rest of us, some advise us to get HTC's Nov 09 ROM update, which will also allow us to immediately check for the 2.1 update.
BUT if we are willing to wait a day(s) or week(s), do we need to do that? Does the current 2.1 update rolling out from T-mobile incorporate the prep/HTC Nov update and can we just wait for notification from t-mobile. In other words, if I don't want to bother flashing an update to the ROM myself, can I just be patient for Tmobile's rollout to get to me. |

PLease try looking at the forums befor posting as this has been decussed in several threads. If you dont have part on then you have 2 options. Wait for the next update scan or roll the date forward. If neither of these work or the update fails then you need to flash the rom of the HTC site DO NOT USE ANY OTHER COPY OF THE ROM as even if the build numbers are the same there is another slightly different version. Then roll the date forward and download update 1 Then Go to settings, about phone, scan for updates and download and install part 2 YOU WILL/MAY loose data whne installing the updates so backup first. |

Sam--I did closely read the other threads and, they were still not clear. Your answer also reveals that the answer my post is "don't know"-- i.e. when I do get the 2.1 update notification from t-mobile, it may or may not work because I don't have "part one". No one seems to able to definitely answer "yes, it will work". Fair enough.
If it doesn't, then I will indeed have to update the ROM from HTC myself. j |

Hi dcgent,
You need to flash the november update from the HTC website in order to get the part 1 update as without this you will always be stuck on the rom you are on and wont recieve the 2.1 update. Hope this helps Dean |

I think it is quite confusing too.
I was on OS 1.5, build 1.76... it wasn't made clear that if I was on this I needed to get HTC Sync, then get the ROM update from the HTC site. Once you do the ROM update, you will be on OS 1.5 build 2.73...26 the phone only then automatically detects part 1 of the TMobile update and installs this, then your are on OS 1.5, build 2.73....91. Part of the Part 1build (2.73....91) will give you an option in the SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>System Updates to 'Check Now' for updates- When you run this you finally get 2.1! Check what OS and build your on and take it from there! |

Well done T-Mobile.
Update worked first time, and even kept most of my settings! Android 2.1 is brilliant and hopefully the lessons learnt here will mean future updates are smoother. |

I successfully got the pre-2.1 update, and now have the "Check now" button . However, when I use this, I get a message "Your phone is up to date. There are no updates available for your phone".
The firmware version is still 1.5, and the build number is 2.73.110.91 CL#154725 release-keys Any help very welcome! |

Change the date to 2012, put the phone off, and start the phone, this should bring you the update, if this still doesn't work, the you will have to start from scratch, I mean installing the generic TM ROM, and then the November update and so on.
