I'm about ready to ditch this phone unless I can rely on G-mail updating properly.... G-mail seems to sometimtes update automatically in the background, and sometimes not. This does not seem to be dependent on where I am, what sort of Connectivity I've got (Wi-Fi or 3G). I can even kick off sync manually and still not get up to date info (i.e. data on Gmail via PC is different to Data via Gmail on GW620... Why is this? What can I do to make it work.... (it is set to auto sync in background...) |

RE: G-Mail push not working reliably on InTouchMax/GW620
Posted: 155 days ago in response to: Argon0 I'm getting the same problem on my G2 Touch. A colleague of mine has the same problem, whereas another colleague with the "Hero" on orange has no such problems.
I am also unable to download any apps through Android Market (including updates), and a VPN connection fails while tethered. Makes a mockery of a "smart phone" when all the "smart" applications stop working! |

can you access things from your phone if you force it to a GPRS (2G) connection, or if you use a WiFi connection? here's a couple of threads you may want to catch up on... No Data Transfer On G2/Hero http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/discussions/index?page=forums&topic=8010383225b9b401254f28df55007409 Todays the Day...(Network Connectivity) http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/discussions/index?page=forums&topic=80103803b2f8a6f0126c25b2e74007b20 And welcome to the forums! |

Hi Matt,
Normal browsing works ok on GPRS (I assume you mean selecting the "Use 2g networks only" option?). Market still fails to download apps (but can search etc), Browser works (but it slow, obviously) |

Hi all, been lurking for a while on the forum.
I would like to state something that I haven't read anyone else saying regarding this issue: My service on G2 Touch was absolutley fine *before* the patch on 15 February. Since then, gmail push and market downloads have been broken. Occasionally they will work on HSDPA, but I mean *very* occasionally (i.e. leave a market download waiting for a few hours, and at some point it may download). |

RE: G-Mail push not working reliably on InTouchMax/GW620
Posted: 154 days ago in response to: banjobill OK, I have managed to fix my connectivity problems.
When talking to CS, the person mentioned that if you have an Android device, there is a special entry on your account. However, in my case, I bought my G2 completely separate of any contract, so didn't have this entry as t-mobile essentially didn't know that I was using a G2. I told the person the situation, they enabled this entry, I restarted my phone, and now my problems are fixed. I can download from the market, and gmail push is working! I'm not sure if this will be useful for everyone. But, note that I had *zero* problems before the 15th "network fix". I think it's worth calling them and making sure that they know you are using a particular handset, as the values may have been lost somehow after the fix was rolled out. |

Interesting! That's consistent with my understanding of how T-Mobile administer and bill that I'm piecing together in my head. |

Posted: 154 days ago in response to: cowbutt Very interesting.
But I have always been able to download from both the internet and the Market, and if I manually refresh my Gmail it seems to work. Just to be sure I am talking about the Google Mail application on the Android, rather than any of the other mail clients. Wondering if I should check with TM CS regarding that setting... |

RE: G-Mail push not working reliably on InTouchMax/GW620
Posted: 154 days ago in response to: banjobill Does this "special entry" not sound like usual T-Mobile guff?* It's just a standard internet connection isn't it? What difference can it possible make what phone is going through it?
*my best previous example was being told my Blackberry Curve 8900 couldn't get email because I don't live in a 3G area. Ignoring the fact that the BB wasn't even a 3G phone, what a load of tripe. |

RE: G-Mail push not working reliably on InTouchMax/GW620
Posted: 154 days ago in response to: brykins As I understand it, standard Web n' Walk is EDGE or UMTS, whilst Android phones should come with Web n' Walk Plus, which adds the ability to connect with HSDPA (as well as upping the monthly usage limit).
In other words, there could be something in it, especially if the only people with problems are on standard Wn'W. |

RE: G-Mail push not working reliably on InTouchMax/GW620
Posted: 153 days ago in response to: banjobill Hi guys,
I have to retract my statement about the 'G2 switch' made by CS that I recently stated fixed my connectivity issues. I think, by fluke, the phone appeared to be functioning correctly following the change, so that is why I wrote the post. However, I can confirm that it was short-lived. I have problems with gmail push and android market just as before. Sorry about that :( |

RE: G-Mail push not working reliably on InTouchMax/GW620
Posted: 150 days ago in response to: banjobill Spoke to CS yesterday, got put through tot Tech support (at last - not only is that a feat in itself, but TMs CS team were having telephony issues yesterday...).
There is no "switch" they can set to announce you have an Android to the network - its just an Internet connected device... The only suggestion they came up with was to do a Factory reset - which "usually solves these problems", not really that helpful - what happens to all the apps I've bought... (they disappear and have to be reinstalled) - lucky I can back them up to SD.... :) Haven't done this yet though... As syncing seemed to start working shortly after my call to CS, but isn't again now.... Bizarre.... |
