Third party or premium services include text chat, ringtones, logos, games, horoscopes, and TV voting. They are usually charged to your phone bill or deducted from your prepay balance.
3G speeds up data transfer, so using internet on your phone, picture messaging or connecting to email are much faster. Voice calls aren't affected and you can still use voicemail, SMS and call waiting exactly as you're used to.
